Micah 6:8

He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?

Discovery Camp week 2. It’s almost over and yet it feels like it just started! We’ve had a really amazing two weeks here at Camp DeWolfe. Our activity areas have had some exciting programming for our campers and our Weekend Program had our very own Camp Olympics! I think it’s safe to say that everyone had a great time competing over the weekend. I believe it was the UK that ended up winning, coming back from a pretty deep deficit after day 1. Thanks to our amazing Unit Leaders, Brad and Katherine, for an awesome Weekend Program!

We said goodbye to Fr. Larry Byrne on Saturday morning and said hello to Fr. Brian Blayer on Sunday afternoon. Fr. Brian can be found out and about around camp taking part in whatever he can. On Monday he was helping the LITs (Leaders in Training) with their service project on site moving large (!!!) piles of woodchips around the visitor parking area. Since last week our Christian Formation has looked at the themes of Courage to Forgive, to Stand Up, to Do Justice, to Change, and tomorrow we’ll look at the Courage to Connect (“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” Matthew 28:19) just before we all go our separate ways. As a Christian Community here at Camp DeWolfe each of these themes connects to our lives in unique ways and we explored how our time at camp can help us grow into a stronger community of Christ, both here and at home. I think our faith community here is a pretty great one and will only get stronger in our final 24 hours together!

Tonight we will have our final evening activity, the sailboat regatta, our final Eucharist with Fr. Blayer, and our closing campfire. I can’t believe we’re here already but time flies when you’re having fun, right? We are so looking forward to our final dinner together tonight (Hawaii themed day and dinner!) and for a great last morning of activities tomorrow. To all those traveling tomorrow to Camp DeWolfe, please do so carefully! You are all in our prayers and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Grace and Peace,
Stephen Tamke
