II Timothy 1: 6-7

For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands; for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline.

God is really good!

Hello from all the staff and counselors at Camp DeWolfe for Summer 2016! It is always a little nerve wracking and a bit scary to come to a new place and meet new people. But, camp does a really good job of erasing those anxieties pretty quickly and replacing them with excitement and fun at what is in store for the summer. As the staff and counselors have gotten to know one another during this first week of staff training we have become friends and members of our great, big, and awesome camp family!

We have had some exciting experiences together from the challenge ropes courses on Monday to staff Olympics last night; from icebreakers to learning about love languages. Christian Formation has begun and we’re working hard at understanding and living out our camp verse (from II Timothy, above) and our camp theme: Courage in Community. Here at camp we are looking at how our campers, and we, can live out our call as followers of Christ in our community at camp as well as in our communities back home. We have all been brought into the community of Christ and been given the gift of God’s love that is in each of us. Now it is up to us to bring God’s love into our communities and into the world.

So, with one more week left of staff training we are well on our way to a great summer at camp. We are excited to welcome our campers so soon to their new Camp DeWolfe home and family, as well as to begin our summer of fun, excitement, prayer, and love!

Yours in Christ,
Stephen Tamke
Christian Formation Director
