As you know we are committed to environmental responsibility and strive to reduce our impact on the planet. We want to encourage you to join us in eco-friendly initiatives, such as waste reduction, conserving energy, and we appreciate your help in making Camp DeWolfe a greener place.
Here’s how you can contribute to a more sustainable stay:
- Water conservation:
Please be mindful of water usage and turn off the tap while brushing your teeth and consider taking a short shower.
- Waste reduction:
We have recycling bins available for your use. Please help us reduce waste by sorting your recyclables into the designated bin.
- Energy conservation:
Please help us conserve energy by turning off lights, appliances and air conditioning, when leaving a room and using thermostats to adjust the room temperature. Camp DeWolfe utilizes more environmentally friendly low wattage and LED light fixtures.
- Eco-friendly products:
We use eco-friendly cleaning products and toiletries to minimize our environmental impact.
- Plastic reduction:
We are reducing the use of all single-use plastics. Since 2024 we have already reduced plastic waste by 90% by incorporating reusable dishes, silverware, glasses and mugs into our food service program.
- Local sourcing:
We are committed to sourcing local and sustainable products whenever possible, supporting the local economy and reducing our carbon footprint.
- Campfires:
All fires at Camp DeWolfe use wood that is grown on site and taken down in the course of good practice woodland management.
- Towels and Linens:
We offer the option to reuse towels and linens to reduce water and energy consumption.
- Dining Facilities
Our goal is to utilize 100% of all food served in the dining hall. Leftover foods are either composted or donated to address local food insecurity.
