As fall officially begins today with the Autumnal Equinox, Camp DeWolfe has been the setting for a number of retreats and meetings this week. Churches, schools and organizations are making the most of this bright and sunny fall weather!
The Lutheran High School held their 9th grade retreat on Thursday and Friday. Over 120 students enjoyed the beach, team-building games and activities, camp fires and time in prayer and listening to God’s word, in preparation for beginning their high school years.
A group of around 35 students from the US Merchant Marine Academy arrived on Friday night for a weekend of community building for their fleet. Chaplains are facilitating prayer and worship time, bible studies, and the group spent their first night by a campfire and down at the beach. They will be trying out the Challenge Course later today!
Bishop Provenzano and the Diocesan Strategic Planning Team are also at Camp DeWolfe this weekend, enjoying the peace of the Long Island Sound and beauty of the water, as they envision the next season of ministry across the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island. Their planning sessions are being facilitated by Canon Shawn Duncan, who is guiding a process that will lead to action by the end of their time together this weekend.
Please pray for each retreat group to see God in the natural setting at Camp DeWolfe and have a meaningful time together in community, in God’s will and presence. If you are interested in holding your fall or winter retreat at Camp DeWolfe, simply click here!
