Being a counselor at Camp DeWolfe is more than just a job, ti is an experience for the body, mind, and spirit. I have learned so much from the campers. I expected to be the teacher but instead I became the student. I remember one morning during Christian formation we were asked to read a passage in the Bible and teach it to other campers. The passage my group received was about loving your enemies. When ti was our turn to present one of the campers said that for the people who we dislike or even marginalize, we still have to pray for them because they need it as much as we do. Hearing that idea really helped to change my perspective of how I interact with those I may not get along with and vice versa. For me, learning this new concept is what Camp DeWolfe is about. It is those little moments of understanding and epiphany that open our hearts to the new things God has planned for us.
