This Fall, the Camp DeWolfe staff are visiting a number of parishes, schools and communities to meet people and to share the vision that Camp DeWolfe is a ministry that serves, hosts and provides a place and programs available for everyone across Long Island. This month, visits have included St Andrews Church, in Mastic Beach, Suffolk County, the Episcopal Clergy Day in Garden City, and St George’s Church in Astoria, Queens. Other visits will include St Mary’s Church in Hampton Bays, Suffolk County and St Stephens Youth Group in Jamaica, Queens.It has been a wonderful opportunity so far to see God’s love in action in these diverse communities. Each community has welcomed us differently and it reminds us that we are all called to “Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” (Romans 15:7) In particular, we are thankful and encouraged by the authenticity and hospitality that St George’s Church in Astoria shared with us last weekend. What a kind and caring family of God! We joined in celebrating Reverend Kim’s anniversary of ministry and were generously provided delicious Korean food for lunch!Today, we pray for every community across the Diocese of Long Island and beyond, “that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ and to know this love that surpasses knowledge–that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen” (Ephesians 3:17-21).
